How Reiki Works.

🌿 The Setting

Reiki sessions take place in a quiet, peaceful space—free from distractions—where you can truly unwind. Professional Reiki practitioners typically have a dedicated healing room or are skilled at creating a serene environment for in-home sessions. Soft music is often played to help mask outside noise, but feel free to request silence if you prefer.

Session lengths vary but most are a full 60-minute session for deeper healing and relaxation.


📋 Before Your Session: Intake & Consent

You’ll be asked to complete a brief consent form and have a short conversation with your practitioner. This is a chance to share any specific health concerns, preferences, or touch sensitivities. Let your practitioner know if you’re unable to lie flat, have had recent surgery, or prefer minimal or no physical contact—they will always honor your boundaries.


What Happens During a Session?

You’ll remain fully clothed, lying comfortably on a treatment table or seated in a chair, supported with pillows or blankets as needed.

Reiki is usually offered through light, non-invasive touch, with the practitioner’s hands placed gently on or just above key areas of the body—typically the head, torso, limbs, and energy centers (chakras). There’s no pressure or manipulation, and hand placements are never intrusive. If touch is not appropriate or preferred, Reiki can be given entirely hands-off, with hands hovering just above the body.

  • A sensation of heat or coolness from the practitioner’s hands

🔁 How Many Sessions Will I Need?

In cases of more serious or ongoing challenges, some clients find value in receiving daily Reiki sessions over several days to support their system more intensively.
